Lately, if you've been feeling stupid, raid your mom's kitchen and see if by any chance she's been using this dangerous secret formula.

Though Ive been to every Baybeats, Fri was the first time I stayed for the Poptart spins. I'd say, this Baybeats, there's loadsa MYSPACE kids. I tell you, when I was their age also, I'd nvr imagine I'd be that popular and have so many friends.

Movie Fashizzlessss

SUPERMAN RETURNS

The biggest blockbuster hit of this summer is finally here. After like wat, since the late 90s when Ive been reading rumours of Nicholas Cage playing Superman, and then hearing no news of it, the movie has finally been released. Yes Ladies n Gents, SUPERMAN IS BACK.

And I so freakin love it. So shoot me. This review might seem biased and leaning towards the Man of Steel, but hey, I love him. He's my most favorite superhero. Who else can hold up to him? He's Superman for goodness sake. Ok perhaps Dream from Sandman might defeat him, but tats another story for another day.

Bulk of the movie revolves on how Superman returns to the fold, after an absence of 5 years. The main formula hasnt changed. He faces his age-old nemesis Lex Luthor. Kryptonite has its part. He saves Lois Lane. But the question is, why'd he been in hiatus? To enjoy his CPF benefits? Embezzle Daily Planet's funds enjoying live in Cayman Island? No people. After putting Lex in jail, astronomers found Kal-El's birthplace. He had to see it himself, and so he went to the place, and stayed in hibernation for 5 years.

Upon his return, coincidentally Lex gets released and starts working on his plans for weapons of mass destruction. He'd wana use crystals from the Fortress of Solitude and create new land, even continents. It was cool of Bryan Singer using the miniature 'town' and the havoc that wrecks the little town, a preview of things to come. Now this is a job for Superman.

From the beginning, the cheesy opening sequence wif titles over a background of space n planets (this was cool in like wat, the 80s?), and the theme song by John Williams, I felt at home. I was brought back to those days, when I was 5-6 years old, watching it on tv with my family. It was always a family affair watching such movies on tv. And to see him, Superman, make his appearance, proved juz too much for me. I was transported back to when I was 6 again. I was humming his theme song, tapping my leg. I was having a jolly good time. A feel-good factor. To quote Sam Huntington (Jimmy Olsen) during an interview , "To see him (Brandon Routh) walking in in his Superman costume was like meeting Santa".

Once you hear the theme song, you know that Superman is round the corner to kick your ass. Personally, I loved the part when he went to space, and concentrating, listening to the people crying for help. That was juz classic. Or when he went up to the sky to reenergize from the sun. Or that determined look when he was pulling half of that ship. Classic shots. When the Daily Planet's Globe structure falls, and Superman comes flying to catch it on his shoulders, it's a symbolic scene. Of how Superman carries Earth on his shoulders. Nothing less.

Ive got the whole world in my pants. And nothing was altered or enhanced in any way.

I have to declare that casting Brandon Routh as Clark Kent/Kal-El/Superman is, I tell you, pure genius. He does hold resemblance to the late Christopher Reeves. The other nominees, Nicolas Cage (can u imagine Superman with thinning hair?), Brendan Fraser (Tarzan play Superman? Nah), Ashton Kutcher (he just might Punk Lois), James Caviezel (Jesus? Superman?). All these established and well-known actors wouldnt have worked. To cast a relative unknown, magic on Bryan Singer's part. I solemnly declare that Brandon Routh looks freaking gorgeous as Superman. There. Ive said it. So ladies, even if you've got no interest for flying men, check Brandon out as Superman. Gerenti satisfied. And no, apparently his member was not altered in any way for the movie. This he declared in an interview with Life.

Funnily, I noticed watching the show, I had no problems believing someone fly, carry airplanes, carry continents (prob the biggest shit he's ever carried yet). Yet when I saw Lois Lane jumping from the plane into the water n catching Superman's cape, I juz shouted "THAT'S BALOONEY!". Funny how boys can be so easily duped. But personally, I do find Kate Bosworth as Lois Lane wasnt too bad. Juz tat she didnt have that matured, oldish look. But then again I'd have no recommendations for tat role.

I do, however, have 2 beef wif Bryan Singer's castings.

1) Kevin Spacey as Lex Luthor?? No no no. Couldnt they find a bigger man? He looked bollocks as Lex. I tink Michael Stipe of REM fame would make a better Lex. He has that look of mystery.

2)Kal Penn as Lex Luthor's right hand man. He of Harold and Kumar fame? Nooooooooo. Why him? It was comical to see him alongside Lex. Nothing sinister or baddie abt him at all. I simply cant see the reasoning to his casting.

And probably producers should seriously consider doing away with Superman's red briefs. I mean, c'mon. Its 2006. Wearing briefs on the outside is so 1940s, let alone a red one. Prob he needs a costume overhaul, the current one's ok but lose the underwear. And the S logo is way way too small. Dont think they should have altered that.

Cyclops makes an appearance here. Not as his X-Men alter-ego. But again he plays the loser guy who loses, yet again, another girlfriend. Wonder why he's given all these wimpy roles. You have got to win your woman James! We can all finally see Cyclops' eyes now. The first time Cyclops was introduced to Superman, I was half-ass expecting him to blow off Clark's neck wif his laser beam. Alas, tat is another story for another day.

Something interesting to note, even though Ive read a few reviews in the papers, there is A PARTICULAR information which has been witheld. It shocked me, but I think it was an unexpected surprise. In the spirit of good natured moview reviews and code of conduct of writers, it shall not be revealed here. Have I whet your appetite enough? Go watch it to find out. Another tip, watch it in digital format. Fabulously excellent. Freakishly clear. It was shot on High Definition, juz like Star Wars 2 n 3.

The rating? 6 out of 5 char kueys. Yes people. It has overshot the char kueys bar. I so love Superman. Everyone needs a Superman. Cue theme song.
