Agent Yun's 2006 list of whathaves and whatnots

yes yes, its that time of the year again when i put out my best/worst/watever lists of 2006. however instead of putting out lists top 5s, i have decided to put out a list of things that had an effect on me, be it bad or good.

Music that was on constant rotation on my iPod

gnarls barkley(St.Elsewhere)- Cee-Lo and Danger Mouse. a weird combo which produced one helluva of an album which consisted of rock/soul/chillout/rnb/hiphop.fantastiche!
Yeah Yeah Yeahs(Show Your Bones)- yes yes yes to Karen O and gang. ohh those pouty lips.
Lupe Fiasco(Food & Liquour)- who knew that a black man from chicago who skates(unlike pharell hehe) can rap real good.fashizzle.
Lily Allen(Alright Still)- this lovely English lass came out of nowhere with her reggae/dancehall infused pop songs. Now shes the darling of teenage gals on MySpace.
Thom Yorke (The Eraser)- all hail the man with the sleepy eyes.
Pearl Jam (Pearl Jam)- its pearl jam.nuff' said.
Arctic Monkeys- i admit that i was hesistant to pick their album up.but once i picked it up, i couldnt put it down.one track that's still on me eardrums 'when the sun goes down'.

Concerts/Shows/Gigs that i was lucky enough to witness

Franz Ferdinand- my partner in crime, El Fian, creamed in his pants after he was lucky enough to shake hands with Mr Alex Kopranos himself. Super Fantastiche.
Coldplay- back in 2001, they were already amazing.fastforward to 2006, they came back armed with new songs, grammys n a superb technicolor backdrop which accompanied their beautiful tunes. giant yellow balloons for all!
Kings of Convenience- when a band plays a song in total darkness, all u do is sit n listen to their lyrics n acoustics.one of the best gigs ive been to, they even hungout at the outdoor arena at esplanade for poptart.
Valium- www.myspace.com/myvalium these new band on the block with not so new kids on the scene make non-conforming music that delights me.keep it going guys!

Things that put a frown upon my face
Liverpool underachieving, the IRAQ war(bila nak game, saadam hussien dah game pun masih nak perang ka), Chelsea, Japanese food(i still cant appreciate it), Spore Idol contestants who could sing being voted off the show.(hahaha)

Things that put a smile upon my face
ORD, iBook, iPod logitech speakers(thx mahdhir n le arab), year end bonus(1st time dapat ape), bangkok/phuket/phiphi, vans X supreme shoes, happy berfday parties, newfound friends, old friends found again.

and so ladies and gentlemen, thats my list of whatnots n whathaves. i wish all of yous an amazing new year in 2007, n to me comrades elfian n andi, bila bila killersherpa. john legend/muse/good vibrations(BEASTIE BOYS ARE COMING!HOLY SHIT!) coming up.
be safe n happy, positive vibes all around, n say no to drugs.

2006

2006 is coming to an end. Normally what I look forward while counting down the days to the new year, is Agent Yun's list Best of The Year list. But probably he's busy volunteering his time catching lambs at Al-Falah, so thot I'd come up with my own list.

Top 3 Albums of 2005 ( I could just think of 3. I need to listen to more shite)
3. We Are Scientist - With Love and Squalor
Nobody moves nobody gets hurt. Dig it?

2. Arctic Monkeys - Whatever People Say I am, that's What Im not
I have to admit I was a late starter on this one. When I was on my peace mission to the UK early this year, people there were talking only about 2 things, Pete Doherty and Arctic Monkeys. I only digged them when i got hold of them music around July/Aug. They rocks tantalizing cocks. When I heard the intro to "I bet you look good on the dancefloor", I thot it was gonna be some grincore song (which would have suited me just fine). It was just an excellent song. And the song about them bobbies in blue. Excellent Smithers.

1. Muse - Blacks Holes And Revelations
Matt Bellamy, back after 2 years. Songs of conspiracies and otherworldy things. Muse. It all adds up to album of the year. Matt, see you at Fort Canning hill. And Eblig, hope can go party together.

Top 5 Movies of 2005
5. The Prestige
Wolverine Vs Batman. Now who would wanna miss this match-up? But it was great movie, a battle of magic, to see who was better, for recognitions. But he who ends up losing, in search of fame and fortune. Im writing in circles here.

4. Nacho Libre
Jack Black, in tights and mexican mucha lucha mask? Sure made a hilarious combination. Esqueleto proves to be the lovable sidekick.

3.The Departed
Martin Scorcese at the helm, an already proven hit film equals another great film. Violence not going overboard, and a chill-out senior police officer, man this sure was a great movie. 'Cept for that arse of a Matt Damon aka John Arne Risse.

2. Superman Returns
Superman returns after being gone for far too long. The scene that made it all worth it? The intro, where you hear the theme song by John Williams. Brandon Routh, you rock. Rock kangkang.

1. V for Vendetta
Evey and V, futuristic Romeo and Juliet couple. And his fighting skills with no gun usage. Just pure brute stength and knives.

Moments of the year
ORD. World Cup 2006. Seeing Big Ben. And shaking hands with Alex Kapranos. And Britney going commando. And being employed.

Disappointments of the year
The Da Vinci Code movie, X-Men 3, Chicken Pox at 24. And Liverpool.

Channel 5 programme of year
Prison Break

Concerts of the year
1. Coldplay
2. Franz Ferdinand

Word of the year
Transfat. And IR.

Makan place of the year
Al-Ameen Hillview. And The Ship.

To those going to Countdown at Esplanade tomorrow, look-out for my big ball if you can.

Word-up to the missus.

Here's to a wonderful 2007. Muse. Maybe Fuji Rock Festival. And more travelling. Have a good one everyone!
