Achey Breakey Heart

So my weekend, was spent nursing my mouth after this came out :

Yes yes, I actually did go to pay the dentist a long-overdue visit. The source of my wisdom, was not my tutelage under the Maharishi Yogi 7 years back, but actually from this small mofo. Its been aching since last last wed. I kept on tahaning, from making an appt wif the dreaded dentist, hoping its juz an ulcer and the pain would go away. But noooooo. It wasnt actually painful, but juz causing freaking discomfort, it brushing against my cheek.

Eventually, upon sound advice from the missus that it's better to feel temporary pain then eternal pain (this line sounds so much like from an emo song), I made the call to Bethel Dental Surgery. And the earlist date they gave me, (i called them on 13th Aug) was 22nd Aug. A freaking week later. Oh well I thot. The better that I get to delay them dentist.

But on 16th Aug they called, and said got available slot on 17th Aug. After much consideration, plucked my courage (this line sounds so much from a teenage love letter) and said yes, I'd take it. Sui-sui also, the throbbing was getting worse by 17th Aug. Dont I'd last till 22nd man.

People have a fear of Boogeyman (not boh-geh), Freddie Kruger, taxman, BJ Kadir. I, fear the dentist. Why? Well since forever I can remember (which is from Pri. 1), each visit to the dentist, will result in me making at least 1 donation of my tooth to the dentist deatheater. And one time, even donated 2. I dont know wats the fascination wif dentists and my teeh. Until it reached a point where, in Sec 3, i was given tat dreaded orange/brown card paper to go visit the dentist at St Anthony Pri, I actually tore it up, and didnt go. And tat was it. I was saying a big Ef Euu to them dentist.

Thus my reservation on going to the dentist. Altho I did make a visit to the dentist earlier this year, more to maximise my dental benefit before I left NUS.

Before my appointment, I actually googled this doctor, which was closest to my home, Bethel Dental Surgery, hoping to find some feedback or horror stories. Well I was torn between 2 docs, other was this Norreha Dental Surgery. I was recommended to that by my mum, who said the doc treated my niece well. But I had this impression this doc was doing it only for the muslimah (Im sorry, juz a perception, I may be wrong). And me dad recommended going to the BP Plaza one. My experience wif the Bethel doc earlier tis year, was tat she was very rough. A very unpleasant experience at all. But my dad said she did a good extraction for him.

And googling didnt result in anytin. Only for the Norreha one. But the blogger didnt mention if she was any good. Juz mention it was a complicated procedure, and tat she had to go hospital. Now tat juz didnt sound good for me. I filled my soul wif bravery by listening to the bravery, and went for my appt wif bethel.

And I must say, Im super happy at the way it turned out. I must have been way out of touch wif dental technology (been a while since I last read Dentist Today, or Oral Be & Colgate Now). But apparently, they dont have to make those injections anymore wif those huge syringe to numb ur gums. Juz rub some gelly substance to my gums, and after 2-3 mins, the doc began to loosen my teeth wif a small tool, and then a slightly bigger tool and it was out. In the middle of the procedure, the doc was even talkin to the receptionist abt some client that couldnt wait and went back home, while I lay there, my face pucat like wat. And when she was done, she actually said she was lucky, that my root wasnt tat long, and if not it would have been complicated. And she showed the damn teeth to the receptionist. Wonder if these people like to look at such things.

So it was a totally painless procedure, less than 15 mins, wif no injections and the doc was cool like tat, making u feel at ease. So there i was jumping abt, calling people up and laughing tat it didnt hurt a bit and queued up for donuts.

But tat was the immediate reaction. Pain was soon to come when the anastetic wore off, in abt 2 hours time, and the slight pain began. It wasnt tat bad lah, but went to the extent where I had to cancel my dinner plans. Now, its a-ok, juz feeling silghtly swollen and getting used to a hole there in the back.

U win, Mr dentist. 1-0 to dentist.
