i gotta say man, this azmyl fella, his vocals ah, wahlandey damn superb lah. didnt regret staying late to see mister folk-guitar harmonica-wielding hero himself mister azmyl, who came down all the way from KL to play in a cafe cum jam studio in a place where the jins bertandang. u juz have got to listen to his stuff lah. even when he performed wif Maharajah Commission in singapura abt a month back, i was amazed by his energy and the good vibes that he exudes. and when he started to sing, now tat blew me away. never have i been tis mesmerized from hearing someone sing. kudos also to his folk-guitar mates hailing from the bumiputra land, they put up great performances too man. they rocks, no bull-shit in-your-face sincere from the heart music. rush sounded pretty much like a suede meets smashing pumpkins, wif the frontman's billy corganish vocals, (hearing them play Sonnet by the verve brought me back to my secondary school days, the only band where i fell in love wif juz one of their albums, excellent cd tat one). sourgrape seems to have tat fun element when they were playing, enjoying and comfortable wif themselves, the frontman wif the 'cedric bixler' afro do. but i tink their malay song was touching, tho i didnt hear them lyrics. but the highlight of the night is definitely seeing mister God of Gambler himself, shifu Li Nanxing. noticed tis hunky chinese fella wif a white sleeveless tee on, didnt tink much of him. skali he turned and asked me whether the cafe has a gent's. and i looked at him and straighaway i became star-struck. wow. a channel8 artiste asking me the way to the loo. hotdamnnnn. tat made my nite.
