movie fashizzles
FAHRENHEIT 9/11

After much anticipation for the release of this movie in this homeland of mine, I finally got my chance to watch it yesterday.

After all the hype it has generated, and it being a Michael Moore movie, of course i was dead excited about it, probably the only other movie i was waiting for besides Spiderman 2 of course.

Ive watched his previous docu released here BOWLING FOR COLUMBINE, amid without any fan-fares and hype. And i was certainly very impressed by the issues that he raised. When Michael Moore talks (or shoots, for that matter, pardon the pun), you people seriously have got to listen to what he's got to say.

This time round, MM is at it again. The main subject of his latest 'blockbuster' hit is of course Meister George Dubya Bush, mischief-maker and pranskter numero uno. The docu is very well done, in the progression of the whole show. It starts from the controversial Florida recount, as to how Bush, when it all seemed that Al Gore had indeed won the voting, albeit by a minimal margin, suddenly a netFOXwork television headed by one of his cronies, leaked out news that Bush had 'actually' won the elections. Surprise surprise. And from there, its just like another bad dream for the Yew Ass of A, and for the rest of the world.

The issue of 9/11 was highlighted in this docu. MM was being very sensitive in not showing any images of that tragedy at all, as we all know how the images of that fateful day has been replayed over and over and over again, playing with our emotions, sickens us. And so the maestro decided to just use dialouges of that event, with a black screen. This was a simple, yet very powerful way in retelling the events of that day. Only the events that followed were shown.

He showed us what a failure Bush Jr has been, always getting help from his daddy dearest. Yes, you might seem that MM is trying to ridicule Georgie, but hey, the media has always been painting him as some hero, some charismatic leader who is the most powerful man on Earth, and no man shall oppose and he will do whatever he deems is right. Riiiigghhht. Which is exactly the reason why i have lost my faith in the media and just choose not to believe the things i read, or stop reading altogether. It is just too biased towards Bush. We have always been deprived of the overall outlook of a certain situation, and here we all are gobbling every bit of info made available through the mass media. Here MM reveals the other side of the coin, the other side of him, the goofy, the uncertain him, his goof-ups (and i mean MAJOR cock-ups).

The link between the Saudi Royal family and the Bushes. The warning signs prior to 9/11, which was highlighted by the Head of the Anti-Terrorist council, which had been swept aside by Georgie as he was too busy playing golf. How none of the children of the Congressmen are fighting in Eye-Rack, only the denizens of the lower-class busy giving up their lives for the upper-class to maintain their money-wasting lifestyle. Upon the successful completion of Operation Wipe-out Afghanistan, how he targeted his own country in creating mass-hysteria and panic, into making them believe that anyone and everyone can be a terrorist, even your next door house-cat and how did he come to the 'aid' of his people? Of course, Bush's scriptwriters proposed to find a scapegoat which happened to be poor ol' Saddam Hussein, who was no threat and never had any intentions to attack US or even had any links with the 9/11 incident. He just happened to be George Senior's sworn enemy, who has too much oil underneath his palaces. And WMD would be the main agenda of eradicating Saddam and going to war.

One thing i admire about MM, he DID NOT take ISLAM to trial. There was never any mention of Islam being a terror religion, teaching its followers to be over-zealous fanatics. He got the American soldiers themselves to speak about their true feelings, and not everyone was keen or see any purpose in the war. He exposed the torture and humiliation the American soldiers imposed on the Iraqis, way before the Humiliating Abu Gharib incidents got known to the world.

All in all, i'd classify this as a tragic comedy. Yes folks, its got all the humourous elements and you can treat it like a comedy, amidst serious issues being highlighted here. One cannot help shed a tear seeing the innocent people that perished in 9/11, the innocent people that had no chance in the war, the innocent young American soldiers who did lose their lives in vain, contrary to Bush's beliefs.

Curiously, the audience that were present when i watched had expatriates filling up 50% of the theather. I wouldnt blame them for being curious about it, considering how much controversy it has stirred up, which can only lead to hype and publicity. This im sure will make MM laugh his way to the bank. Take that Mickey Moose. And there was this Ang Moh lady behind me, who kept saying "Jesus" everytime Bush and his Gang told one lie after another. Tsk tsk.

From this movie, I have totally changed my perception towards the Americans. The American people are not to be hated, its the administration and congressmen that should be banished to the lowest level of hell. They're being misled by a bunch of hoodlums hell-bent for world domination. They are not to be blamed. Please please, spend your last $6.50 or $8.50 not on some dodgy R-21 show, but watch this instead. Well of course, these are just my 2-cents worth. Please feel free to disagree with me.... on your own blogs. Muchos Gracias.
